Cadbury's Drinking Chocolate TV advert 1993

In the past, cadburys drinking chocolate has aimed at showing someone drinking there product aiming to hope this would encourage viewers to. This one unlike the more recent ads has a voice over stating what is going on.

This lacks wit and humor and doesn't really aim at its right audience as well as it should have.

EDL Music video Point 2 of unit 22 & point 2 and 3 of unit 16

This is one of the shots i did for a music video. All of them are a little shaky but this one i like because, its bright and rather still.

This shot is usable.
This shot is a little shakier as i moving. Its bright and clear so i also think this shot is usable.
I really like this shot. Its simple and its pan's out after a few seconds. Its not to shaky and its bright and clear. This is also usable.
I tried to get most of the shots in order like it had  beginning and end rather than an endless amount of random shots that wouldn't make sense. But this one does work and again , i think this shot is usable.
I tried to get in a lot of close ups so that it would kind of add variety to the video. And this one is one of the many close ups. Its slow moving and is bright so it should be rather clear to see.

Again, its usable.

EDL Local Tour Unit 22.3 & point 3 of unit 16

With this shot, i found it was very dark. But i think overall, its quite a still shot despite the fact that i was standing up. I think this shot is usable.
This shot is rather good. Its good lighting and easy to see and its not that shaky. I think this shot is usable.
Watching this video, i noticed its rather shaky because i was walking while filming. But overall, i think that its obvious i am moving and helps with the fact that the video is called a local tour.

Despite it being a little shaky, i think it is usable.
I found most of these videos of when i was walking to school are all rather shaky but again it was because i was walking.

I still think again aside from the poor movement, its usable.
I think that this one is also usable. Even though it is usable.

Music video research and analysis Point 2 of unit 22 & point 2 and 3 of unit 16

What i like about this music video is that its simple. Its not often now that you have many videos that are pretty much close ups of the artists singing. Or not all the way through. I like the one above because it also builds up. And the effect of the art behind them is good to. I noticed the girl half way through the video is in a green section of the painting. And referring to the theme of the song, maybe the green stands for jealousy or something along those lines. Or maybe the colour green stands for something in this video.

Adele's video is recorded at home. Again something simple. Because it is at home, its a place that she feels comfortable in. Also in this video, we see Adele singing. Its bright and clear and in a few of the shots like the one you see in the picture, as she sings, its almost as if she is thinking as she looks away from the camera. Maybe this is used because of the idea of the song.

Choosing the right location to shoot your video can be tricky. It can be extremely expensive to hire a studio, and you might need film permits to film in certain places. Even the London Underground charges over £300 for a two-hour permit, so once again, you need to ask around and be innovative when finding places to film. Filming outside can often be free, but be prepared to deal with the unpredictability of the weather, and even worse, the public. A video camera can do funny things to even the most respectable of men.
Pick somewhere that means something to you, that is relevant to your music. I recently saw Gummo and Buffalo 66, two outstanding films that were both shot by directors in the places they grew up. They were both deeply connected to their environments, they understood their surroundings, and they could see the odd and subtle beauty in each scene making them extremely personal and moving films. I'm not saying you have to go out there and become the next Harmony Korine, but just think about what you're trying to say in the locations you choose. Resist the temptation to shoot in your dad's garage just because it's easy and free.
Once you have a location, the day of the shoot is surely what it’s all about. This is where your vision is realised, legends are born, and stars shine bright (or self implode). The adrenaline will be pumping, everything will go wrong, nothing will happen on time, but just make the most of it and be ready to react to all the changes.

You see how the smoky underground room and soft lighting really helps create that 1920's atmosphere? With a couple of vintage effects added in the edit, the final product captures all the things Louise was looking for.

In the research above, it shows why choosing certain places is good, depending on the style and type of music you want the the video for. The website continues to go on about the fact that sometimes, video footage isn't always good for your music video. Maybe the music is something light and bouncy, you could always go for an animation.

Even if its a basic animation that is of stick men. To get the perfect video, a person must always decide what type of music they have and work around that.

My local Tour and Evaluation Unit 22.3 & point 3 of Unit 16

Evaluation

I really enjoyed making this little video, despite having to be in at the beginning. My brother and two sisters thoroughly enjoyed this little twist on the normal walk to school. They had fun messing around with some of the shots and even gave idea's of what to film.

Even though the weather was a little gloomy, it was bright and dry enough to film and end up with some good video footage. But being in the country side made it a little hard. With having a little rain the night before, it made the mood really damp so i found some shots i couldn't do in some places. It also made it hard to try and walk through it at the same time i was filming.

The path was narrow and bumpy also adding to why some of the videos were more shaky than they needed to be. It was unscripted so most of the shots i took were unusable and deleted due to unwanted voices or sounds in the background. The wind was rather strong that day to but provided to be usable in the final video. In one shot, you can see the wind picked up but it worked well in some of the shots.

What i didn't like was that i didn't structure it enough to show the day was starting out and that they were going to school. And i don't think it ended in such away to show that it was the end.

What i liked about it was that i tried to make it a little funny. My younger brother likes to play eye spy on the way there and i caught him playing it in one of the video's. Because i used it, i added a little bit of fun to it.

If i could change it, i would have structured it a little better and maybe added something else to it. Like a little music.

Split screen Research Unit 22.2

I like the idea of this first film from Vimeo. It is based upon the idea of the second film we have to do about the opposites. its called 'China: past and future' We see areas of China were, as described in the video, where time has seemed to stop.

Where in Shanghai, China, we see that life has speeded up and sky scrappers and other tall buildings have been made. And this is clearly shown in the video.

Also in the small video, music has been added to the background. Its Chinese based music that fits with the theme of the video.

I didn't really like this one. As much as it tried to show the opposites , i dont think they worked. The one on the left of the screen is ment to show someone being inside but it doesn't show if its day or night. At the start of the video on the left , the upstairs light is turned on but you dont know if that signifies that its dark, showing night time. Or if its dark but really early. They should have shown whether it was day or night first. This therefore shows no kind of opposite to the other.

This next one i really like. It clearly shows the opposites of what is being shown. The other thing i like about this video is that both sides join up on the same place. Like it is in this screen shot.
This one also works too. Its shows the same place at different times. Again, like the one above, its the same place but in two halves. Where the middle of the film where joined in where each video is cut so that both sides look like the one road or path. You can really see the differences of this place at night.

This one to the left i like too. Its the same place at different times of the day. I also like how the shot moves up the building. Both during the day in the night.

Super 8 Movie Clip "Start Filming" Official (HD) Analysis

Film clip analysis – Super 8

The clip we are analysing is a clip from the film super 8.  In this small scene, a few of the signs we see are the clothes they are wearing. They are making there own smaller movie in the actual film so in this small clip we see them filming. One of the characters is wearing clothes to make her look older to play the part of a wife in the small movie they are making.

At the beginning of this scene, they are practising their lines for a movie. But when the train comes, they are rushed into filming.  They’re all dressed rather naturally in jeans and t-shirts showing that they are just young kids wanting to film a movie.

There is no music in the background because it would add to much noise and it would sound to jumbled up when the train passes by. As we see, when the train passes, the scene becomes louder and were are less able to hear them speaking. But hearing and seeing how big the train is when it passes them also emphasises the danger when the train crashes into the on coming car.

But when we see all of them rushing to get the camera rolling, the scene calms down for a few seconds until the train passes to really give us a sense of the train. But once the train has passed, one of the characters turns to see the on coming car. Again there is no music, just the sound of the train and the raised voices of the characters.

Actually seeing the character notice the car and just watching it until he realises what happens makes the small scene a little more interesting. During the clip where we are watching the car and train about to collide, we still here the voices of the other characters carrying on with the filming, telling us that they haven’t noticed what’s going on.

When the car collides with the train it causes a massive crash, which then causes the children to start panicking, and they start to rush out knocking the camera over in the process. The camera is still recording from when they were filming, and this is relevant to the plot later on.  Also on the shot of the fallen camera, we see that the shot is then zoomed in slightly to show viewers that the camera is important.

Just after the train crashes into the car, rather than neat cuts in each clips/scene, the camera turns quickly on to the faces of the kids to show urgency and the rush for them to get out of the way.

Local Tour plan Unit 22.3 & point 3 of unit 16

The plan is to get up at seven in the morning and film the morning through until the point where we end up at school. The plan is to follow everything through from waking up and everything that follow. Even filming the simple things like making breakfast and getting dressed.

The part of filming the tv would be my favourite part as it shows the idea of waiting. Waiting to leave for school. Again, the natural sounds of the videos, like hearing the sound of the tv or the children talking or laughing will lin it into school.

And the silence of the morning will show how early it is when we are out side and walking to school.

Local tour Treatment Unit 22.3 & point 3 of unit 16

Programme Title: Local tour- The walk to school

Producer and/or Director:
Kaylea Lloyd

Duration:
1 to 2 minutes long

Audience:
The audience will be everyone , everyone of all ages. Its something that is easy to understand and the story will be easy to follow.

It could be shown at any time during the time. If it was on a tv slot then it could be shown on all channels any time. Theme is basic and understandable and doesn't/ won't show anything unsuitable for younger viewers.

What is it about?
The film is of a local tour but in my case, a tour of the journey for my younger brother and sisters to school. Showing the viewers what the journey to school is like and what the morning consists of to get ready for school.

Suggested Elements:
People that will be shown in the video will be myself and members of my family.

Shooting Days:

Because it will be the journey to school , it will be set in the morning. So the actual filming shouldn't be any longer than a day.

Local Tour Research Unit 22.3 & point 3 of unit 16

This is a short video from Vimeo showing someone a local tour of the area. I wanted to use this video as part of my research because its very similar to something i want to do for my own local tour. It is the place where someone grew up. But the only problem with it is that it states what you should do to have fun in the country. Rather than a proper local tour but i still like the idea of it.

As my Local tour will be about the journey to school. So again, showing what the average school morning would consist of.

http://vimeo.com/groups/weekendproject/videos/24750420

The video below is of a walk to town. Again something similar. With the route and walking to a certain place. Showing the places we pass on the journey.

http://vimeo.com/groups/weekendproject/videos/24792188

Local Tour ideas Unit 22.3 & point 3 of unit 16

For some ideas, I have came up with idea of filming the usual school routine in the morning. From waking up in the morning and then the journey to and from school. Maybe not the actual journey back but it depends on the length of the video on the way the there. The actual walk back home could be added for extra time.

The tour would consist of a few close up shots of maybe putting on a shoe or watching tv and then leaving the house. Then it would carry on from there. I want to use different type of shots to show the idea of the average school morning like getting dressed and the walk there.

Music might not be needed because the actual sounds that the video would catch would show more of the average school morning.  Music might take that away from the finished video.
